Botox® and Fillers in Inner West Sydney

Do you suffer from headaches, jaw pain, cracked or worn teeth due to clenching and grinding your teeth? This condition is called Bruxism. At Your Smile Centre, we offer treatment in the form of Splint (mouth guard) or Botox.

If you are not able to tolerate wearing a splint at night time or if the splint doesn’t stop your clenching and grinding, Botox may be an option to address the TMJ disorder and clenching and grinding.

How Does It Work?

Botox uses onabotulinumtoxin that blocks the signals that tell the chewing muscles to contract. We put Botox in the chewing muscles. You can still eat and chew, but the muscles don’t have as much strength. Botox first was used as a treatment of wrinkles and facial lines. For the facial lines that are caused by muscle movements. If the facial lines/wrinkles are preventing you from smiling please talk to us. We can help you.

After receiving Botox, clenching and grinding will be reduced and Botox will help you with any tension/headaches/migraines which were associated with clenching and grinding.

What to Expect

Getting Botox only requires one visit. Dr. Gabriela and Dr. Gordana will put an injection in the left and right side of the chewing muscles. You should experience results in 1-3 days and then continue to have results over a two-week period.

The effects will last around 6 months and can stretch up to 9 months.

We can use fillers to naturally complement any other cosmetic work you’ve done like veneers or whitening. Everything we do is focused on helping you achieve a natural looking face, smile and lips. Dermal fillers are used to apply extra collagen to the skin to reduce wrinkles. We never do treatment that’s out of proportion with the face or anatomy. “It’s more to do with enhancing the beauty of the patient, rather than giving oversized lips,” said Dr Gordana.

Who is an ideal patient for Botox?

Botox is given for: clenching, grinding, TMD, tension/headache/migraine/earache associated with clenching and grinding. It’s also used for the treatment of wrinkles and facial lines.

Is it painful?

Getting Botox is similar to getting a local anaesthetic. You’ll just feel a slight pinch. With the fillers, we can give local anaesthetic beforehand as getting fillers around the lips can be sensitive.

How often should I come in for treatment?

Initially every 6-9 months. As the muscles lose their strength and the habit of clenching and grinding, treatment ideally should be needed less often.
