Root Canal Treatment in Hurlstone Park
Tooth Nerve Therapy
When the nerve of a tooth dies, bacteria can start to multiply inside of it. Ultimately, our bodies will begin to reject dead tooth, which can lead to pain. An infection like tooth decay can cause the tooth to become hypersensitive to cold, heat or pressure.
A root canal with one of our highly trained family dentists can help you to preserve your tooth instead of needing to have it extracted.
Filling the Inside of the Nerve Chamber
Root canal therapy treats the tooth from the inside out. During the procedure, one of our experienced dentists will remove the infection and medicate the inside of the tooth. We will then fill the chamber to seal off the nerve canal and then place a crown over the tooth so that it does not break.
The process typically takes 2 to 3 visits and will need additional appointment for crown placement.
Without root canal (endodontic) treatment, the infection inside of your tooth could spread to elsewhere in the body. What may look like a small abscess on your gums could indeed cause far greater health complications, including damage to the bone around your teeth.
In addition to having a small “pimple” along the gums, you may also notice a tooth abscess if you have symptoms of:
- Pain when chewing pressure is applied to the tooth
- Sensitivity to hot or cold
- Darkening of the tooth’s colour
Cleaning the inside of your tooth and protecting it with a crown can allow you to keep your tooth healthy and stable for several years to come.

Call our team on (02) 9558 9876 so we can see you as quickly as possible.
We believe everyone deserves the right to a healthy smile! We’ve partnered with National Dental Plan to offer our patients interest-free payment options. We can complete your application here on-site and usually only take a few minutes.
When you have a root canal treatment at our practice, we will go through all your home care instructions at your appointment.
It’s important to be gentle on the area and treat it with care at home. It may feel more tender and sensitive due to the procedure. Clean the area gently when brushing your teeth and you may wish to avoid chewing on that area for the first day or so post treatment.
We can even prescribe pain relief if necessary. Usually, over the counter pain relief is sufficient for a root canal treatment.
If you have any concerns, we ask you give us a call and we will be happy to help. Our patients experience with us is our number one priority.
